| Frigates pumps all year round. Southern hemisphere winter swell offers consistantly larger surf from May - August, but Frigates exposed position to south swell means that there are smoking, uncrowded and glassy waves during the summer months of December - March. Swell travels up the Tasman sea between Australia and New Zealand, and takes 3.5 days from the top of the North Island of New Zealand before reaching us.
